It’s been a thoroughly miserable season for the Rangers fans drowning their sorrows in the Transfer Tavern.
Still, many of the Light Blues propping up the bar are hopeful of a big rebuild under Pedro Caixinha ahead of next season.
Which is why reports from the Daily Mail have been met with such shock. As bad as this season has been, Caixinha is likely to be given funds in the summer to push Celtic somewhat closer, so the idea they could lose a top star hasn’t gone down well.
Indeed, especially if it’s former Ibrox chief Mark Warburton who prizes him away. According to their report, Nottingham Forest are keen on Gers forward Barrie McKay in a potential bargain deal.
By that time, McKay will be able to talk to foreign clubs ahead of a free move, so Rangers could be forced into selling him in 2018.
As you can imagine, considering Warburton’s unpopular standing amongst the Ibrox faithful, this is a very scary idea indeed.
