With the Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern hoping for more business across the January window, the punters propping up our bar can’t help but discuss the complexion of their campaign thus far. Indeed, as ever, it’s been pretty hectic at Ibrox.
Graeme Murty has done an admirable job in charge of Gers while clearing up the mess left behind by Pedro Caixinha and the transfer window certainly does provide another chance in which to continue that process. One of Caixinha’s biggest flops – Carlos Pena – is understood to be heading for an Ibrox exit and we recently posed a question in regard to another transfer dud to our readers.
Bruno Alves has failed to live up to expectation since moving to Glasgow, leading us to ask whether or not Rangers fans actually wanted the veteran defender around. Reports in the Daily Record earlier this month seemed to suggest his future with the Light Blues was up in the air and, according to the results from our poll, no one seems that concerned.
A huge 77% of supporters want rid of the 36-year-old and, with the likes of David Bates emerging, it makes total sense. Unlikely to be on small wages, Rangers should look to offload the unpopular star ASAP.
