Eyebrows were raised when Glasgow Rangers purchased Ryan Kent last year.
It wasn’t so much his signing that was the big talking point, but rather the transfer fee that was parted with to take him to Ibrox. He cost the Gers a guaranteed £6.5m from Liverpool, which could rise to £7.5m including add-ons. He joined the Glasgow outfit on a permanent basis after he scored six goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions during the 2018/19 campaign whilst on loan.
This term, and currently valued at £3.15m by Transfermarkt, he has managed eight goals and three assists across the board, including seven of the former in the Scottish Premiership alone. Those aren’t bad stats, but it is fair to say that the club’s supporters are still far from happy with his performances to date.
Has Ryan Kent been a success so far?
The Transfer Tavern’s Ben Crump asked supporters on Facebook group ‘Glasgow Rangers’ what they had made of Kent since he joined the club, and it is fair to say that fans weren’t glowing in their appraisal with one labelling him a “disappointment.”
