Just how good was Ryan Kent in the last Old Firm derby? He’s attracting attention from Premier League suitors but Rangers should sign him up before anyone else gets the chance.
The Scottish Sun have reported Fulham are interested in signing the winger from Liverpool, but Rangers will hope to sign him up too. He’s impressed for the Gers this season, and his Old Firm performance will live long in the memory of those at Ibrox that day.
He’s made 21 appearances for Steven Gerrard’s men this campaign, scoring five and assisting six in the process. Rangers have made strides towards challenging Celtic for the title once again, but they look to need another transfer window to strengthen their squad.
The last thing they need is their team going backwards by losing players who have been great assets so far. They’d have to spend a lot more to get a player of the quality Kent has shown, and the new player would obviously need time to adapt.
The Englishman may prefer the bright lights of the Premier League, but it’s up to Gerrard to convince the 22-year-old is best developing under his wing at Ibrox. The manager’s connection with Liverpool may help him in securing a deal, but that’ll only be possible if the player feels Rangers are going places next season.
It’s going to be an era-defining summer for Rangers as they prepare to chase their first major trophy since the club’s resurrection. Ryan Kent can be a key figure in bringing that success back to Ibrox.
