Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be delighted with what Steven Gerrard has already brought to the side, and will be hoping he can continue his excellent work.
The new manager has already brought in six new faces to Ibrox this summer since being named in charge – however, it does not appear that his recruitment drive is preparing to slow down at all.
And that’s because, according to a report from Football Insider, the Light Blues have been linked with a shock move for Stoke City’s Saido Berahino.
The Potters striker has failed to make an impact since his 2017 switch from West Bromwich Albion, and will be desperate to kick-start his career once again, having failed to score in any of his 30 appearances for the Championship-bound outfit.
Gerrard’s side are rumoured to be interested in taking the former England Under-21 international on a season-long loan, yet they are said to be facing competition from other Championship sides for his signature.
Thus, it remains to be seen whether the Light Blues can indeed get a deal done for the 24-year-old this summer.
Landlord’s Verdict: The Rangers fans will be surprised with the speculation linking them with a move for Berahino.
The striker has failed to find the back of the net in 30 appearances for Stoke, yet he did show promise during his early days with the Baggies.
The fans in the Tavern would hope to see the 24-year-old replicate his earlier form, should they bring him to Ibrox this summer, yet many will be concerned that he may not offer much to the Light Blues if he did arrive.
