Rangers are loving life under Steven Gerrard and the Liverpool legend is making fans believe that this could possibly be the year the Gers overtake Celtic once again.
After making a strong start to the Scottish domestic league and despite a loss to their hated rivals Celtic, they remain ahead of Brendan Rodgers and his side, something fans hope remains the case all season long.
Rangers have a great team spirit but quality isn’t everywhere in the team, with a central-midfielder a sensible suggestion for a January signing. A player who could be a terrific free option for the Gers is former Bayern Munich Jan Kirchhoff.
Kirchhoff, (who is valued at £1.8 million on Transfermarkt) despite struggling with injuries over the last few seasons remains a midfielder that would bring a lot to Rangers and should be considered by Steven Gerrard.
At 27, he still has time to find his feet once again and feature in regular football. When first arriving at the Stadium of Light in 2015, Kirchhoff was a midfielder who dictated the play and played a pivotal role in keeping the Black Cats in the top flight that season.
It always has been injuries that prohibits him from making a real impression for a team but Rangers with space to accommodate him could reap the rewards from a player who definitely has more quality football in him.
The midfielder is tall and physical making him a bolder to get past that sits in-front of the back four and ensures no trouble gets near their goal. With a great passing range as well, he is a player capable of turning defence into attack, something Rangers could really do with and therefore must sign him.
