Skrtel’s too expensive so Gerrard must lure bargain £1.3m-rated veteran to Rangers instead

The Rangers fans inside and around the Transfer Tavern are extremely excited for the future under new boss Steven Gerrard in the hope he’s even half as good as management as he was playing.

The Scottish side again found themselves below Celtic in the table, something that is beginning to become a reoccurrence. The Gers fans aren’t happy with this and they hope that Gerrard can bring some big players in this summer so they can launch a more substantial fight against their hated rivals Celtic. Our punters think that Rangers should look at James Collins, who was recently released by West Ham. The Welshman who is valued at £1.3 million on Transfermarkt was heartbroken to have left the Hammers after more than 11 years of service but even at the age of 34, he is still capable of doing a job for a side like Rangers.

What he lacks in pace, he certainly makes up for in determination and effort for any team he plays for. Collins is a no-nonsense defender that would be a big character in the Rangers changing room to spark some renewed optimism around the club. Undoubtedly he still had the ability to play for West Ham but with the club wanting to move to the ‘next level’ the Scottish side can be the club to benefit from James Collins’ release.

Another experienced, well-thought-out signing would surely take Rangers that little bit closer to competing with Celtic again and James Collins will be determined to show that he still can be a great asset for any side to have. With Martin Skrtel proving too expensive for the Ibrox side, the punters propping up our bar think Collins would be a good idea.
