Youngster Stephen Kelly has had a fantastic season so far at Ayr United on loan from Glasgow Rangers.
The 20-year-old spent the campaign with the Scottish Championship side and impressed as they finished in fourth place before the season was brought to a close due to the current pandemic. In 36 matches in all competitions, he scored six goals and provided four assists, becoming one of the go-to players in the middle of the park.
Such was the quality of his displays, he was even voted as Ayr’s Young Player of the Year before he returned to Ibrox. The accolade was decided by the supporters, as well, which shows exactly what kind of impression he made on the fans.
Does Stephen Kelly deserve a place in the Gers' starting XI?
The Gers faithful has been reacting to news of his accolade, and they are delighted that Kelly’s showings have been recognised – one fan even called him a “Barry Ferguson-type player”. They have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts, and you can see some of the best comments from the social media platform below.
