Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern can look to the future under Steven Gerrard as the former Liverpool captain seeks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new campaign.
Celtic walked to their seventh consecutive Scottish Premiership with Aberdeen pipping the Gers to second. Gerrard was finally announced as Graeme Murty’s successor last week, his first venture into senior management. His arrival has also meant a number of his former colleagues have been linked with a switch to Ibrox. The ex-England captain rubber-stamped his first signing of the summer with Scott Arfield arriving for free from Burnley.
One man he could look to bring to Ibrox is West Brom midfielder – Jake Livermore. The former Tottenham midfielder arrived at the Hawthorns in January 2017 and his performances for the Baggies earned him a call-up to the senior England squad. However, following their relegation to the Championship, he could be on the move again.
Gerrard should be the first one to come calling, Livermore would be the perfect addition to the Rangers midfield. With a fantastic range of passing, the 28-year-old would be the midfielder dictator that the Gers are crying out for. He is valued at £8.1m by Transfermarkt.
According to reports, he could be available for as little as £10m due to his relegation release clause. The move makes complete sense for both parties and should be one to watch this summer.
