Rangers: Fans discuss Steven Whittaker goal

Rangers fans will unlikely forget their run to the 2008 UEFA Cup final.
Unfortunately for the Gers, they were beaten in by Zenit St. Petersburg in the end, but in an era when impressive Scottish performances in Europe have been few and far between, they can be proud to have reached the tournament’s showpiece.
After finishing third in their Champions League group, they went on to beat Panathinaikos, Werder Bremen, Sporting Lisbon and Fiorentina on their way the final in Manchester – there were many fantastic moments during that run. One of those came from Steven Whittaker, who scored a fantastic solo goal against the Portuguese outfit during their 2-0 victory away from home.
Can you see Rangers reaching a European final again?

A clip of said strike has been shared on Twitter, and it is fair to say that the club’s supporters absolutely love seeing the goal again, with one even describing it as the “greatest goal ever scored.”

Steven Whittaker one of our most underrated players IMO. His versatility and ball playing skills big part of the reason Smith could get away with often playing so many defenders! https://t.co/TLnDX2u8Cw
