Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be excited with the arrival of Steven Gerrard as the club’s new manager, and as such will be looking forward to seeing what the Liverpool man can bring to Ibrox.
The former England international will officially take over the Gers once the current campaign finishes – however, his first task could be to try and convince the club’s best players to remain in Glasgow.
And that’s because, according to a report in The Scottish Sun, Josh Windass is being courted by a number of Premier League clubs who are interested in bringing him south of the border.
Burnley and Cardiff City are thought to be ready to battle it out for the attacker, who is believed to be available for around £3 million, but whether the Light Blues are in the business of selling their best players this summer very much remains to be seen.
Landlord’s Verdict: The Rangers fans in the Tavern will want to keep hold of their best players, including Windass, with the attacker proving to be rather influential when on his day, although a number of locals have been critical of his performances in the past.
The 24-year-old has recently signed a new long-term deal with the Gers – however, it is thought Gerrard may cash in on him so he can bring in a number of other talents to help improve the squad in different areas.
Fans would likely be disappointed to see Windass go, but will realise if the club does receive an offer that is too good to turn down, they may have to let him depart for the benefit of the club.
