The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern were hugely disappointed with their weekend loss at home to Hibernian and many are starting to question the club’s direction under interim boss, Graeme Murty.
Indeed, the former Reading defender is a popular figure in our bar though many believe he’s clearly not the man to lead the Light Blues long-term, however good a job he’s largely done since taking over from the mess left behind by Pedro Caixinha. So, having said that, links between Walter Smith and the vacant Scottish managerial job were always likely to spark a reaction from the Ibrox faithful.
Should the 69-year-old return from the proverbial footballing wilderness, calls for Rangers to make a move for one of the club’s greatest legends have emerged on social media. However, considering his inactivity of late, others supporters aren’t so convinced on the matter.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the divided reaction online with Rangers fans split.
If Uncle Sir Walter is allowed to play again surely we shouldn’t be letting him go to Hampden?

Before all the people stuck in the past start with ‘Let’s get Walter Smith’ because he is apparently willing to look at Scotland job. No. Just no. International football is a part time gig. Rangers isn’t.

Surely the fact that he's had 2 successful stints as Rangers manager proves that

If Walter Smith is prepared to take the Scotland job then he would have took the Rangers job, we’ve totally missed a trick here! #SirWalter

Anyone who says walter smith isn’t the answer for rangers is wrong. Uncle walter is ALWAYS the answer.
