The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern have been hoping for a boost for a while now.
Indeed, our local Light Blues are hopeful that Pedro Caixinha can turn things around at Ibrox, though are so far fairly disappointed with the nature of how things have gone thus far for the Portuguese after a raft of summer changes.
Not the most popular figure at the club, reports from the Scottish Sun have gone some way into restoring a sense of goodwill towards him.
According to the Scottish Sun, Gers legend Nacho Novo took part in first-team training, alongside Caixinha and appeared to be part of the coaching set-up at Auchenhowie. The Spaniard, a favourite in the east end of Glasgow, is previously thought to have applied for a role on the club’s staff, only to be rejected in favour of Jonatan Johansson.
Still, it looked as if the 38-year-old – who won every domestic honour with Rangers while making it to the UEFA Cup final – was a big part of it in the images shown in the article, much to the delight of the Gers in our bar.
Caixinha clearly needs a boost and bringing in the ever-popular Novo would go some way into getting the fans back on side. Good news all round, particularly for the strikers, who can learn from the former darling of Ibrox.
