Mark Warburton’s eventual exit from Rangers caused few tears amongst the punters in the Transfer Tavern, with the former Brentford coaching proving increasingly unpopular amongst them.
Though it was a messy Ibrox exit, the drinkers in the bar are happy their club can move on and find a man capable of catching Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership. However, as happy as they are to see him depart, they’ve been surprised to see reports from the Daily Mirror in regards to a potential new role for him.
The 54-year-old could reportedly be in the frame to replace the recently departed Andries Jonker as the Gunners’ head of development, with the latter recently taking over as Wolfsburg manager. Warburton is understood to be well thought of in north London following his work with the Bees and has worked with young talents before.
Should he be prepared to leave full-time management, Arsenal are thought to be keen.
