Despite the optimism so prevalent amongst the Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern, recent weeks seem to have sapped it out of them.
Following a derby day thumping at the hands of bitter rivals Celtic, midfielder Joey Barton was reportedly involved in a bust-up with teammate Andy Halliday.
Now, according to the Daily Record, the 34-year-old could face a premature Ibrox axe.
They claim the one-cap England international will be meeting with manager Mark Warburton, where he will have to beg to keep his place in the squad.
Even then, it is thought the Glasgow outfit could still give him the boot.
The former Manchester City and Newcastle United ace is understood to have to apologise unreservedly AND promise to cut out such behaviour before he is handed an olive branch.
He will then have to explain as to why he made the issue public, breaking strict club rules.
A 0-0 draw at Ross County piled further pressure on Warburton, who could yet give Barton his marching orders.
