Rangers fans here in the Tavern are delighted after the Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Hearts, with Graeme Murty’s men becoming an unstoppable force.
The Gers are enjoying their best run of games so far this season as the Scottish Premier League’s form side, after extending their unbeaten streak to three matches at the weekend. Although, this has caused for some of the more fringe players to suffer from a lack of minutes in the side, something that’s made one particular player consider his future. Indeed, according to reports in the Scottish Sun, midfielder Niko Kranjcar will consider quitting football at the end of the season.
The Croatian has been plagued with injuries so far this season and has only managed to feature once since the turn of the year. And, these events have led to him debating whether to end his footballing career at the end of the season, something that was brought to the attention by his father Zlatko Kranjcar.
Indeed, the midfielder recovered from a serious knee injury last season and played in the last Old Firm encounter in December, but has fallen way down the pecking order since the developments of the January transfer window.
Of course, with the 33-year-old’s contract set to expire at Ibrox in the summer, his dad shared some words on Niko’s current feelings towards a possible future:
“After his major injury, he still gets a lot of pain in his knee. He still suffers from water in the knee.
“But he is still under contract with Rangers. You would have to ask him whether he will continue when his contract expires in the summer.
“I think he is going to keep trying and at least he’s only 33. I want him to continue his career, but it’s his decision.”
Niko Kranjcar has played no part in the success that’s been enjoyed so far this season in Glasgow, with injuries and a lack of involvement making the Croatian consider a future in the sport. But, this wouldn’t come as a big blow to the Gers after witnessing the brilliance of their side in recent times, with many of our local residents feeling relaxed about the news.
