The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping a good performance against Hamilton on Friday can help them banish their Old Firm blues.
Indeed, our local Light Blues would love to see Pedro Caixinha’s men put last weekend behind them and prove they are fighting for the Portuguese boss, who can come under scrutiny of late.
With that in mind, comments from Gers star Declan John made to the media and posted on their official website have largely delighted the punters propping up our bar.
The 22-year-old defender missed last weekend’s loss to Celtic, though has revealed he could be in contention for a return at the SuperSeal Stadium, a huge boost to the club, who had to field Lee Hodson in an unfamiliar left-back berth.
Having joined on loan from Cardiff City, he may well be able to resume his duties on the left-hand side of defence come Friday night, much to the delight of our resident Rangers fans.
“I was really gutted to miss the game against Celtic last weekend but I am back training now hopefully to be fit for Friday”, he said.
“I have been training but it is up to the manager to pick the team so I am not really going to know.”
It’s a huge boost for Rangers, who really could do with it right now. While he may not be Roberto Carlos, John should provide his side with far more balance both going forwards and back, helping the team impose Caixinha’s brand of football better.
