‘We’re building something special’: Rangers fans are overjoyed by recent club announcement

Rangers supporters have been pretty downbeat in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side’s slim Scottish Premiership title chances dashed courtesy of a 3-2 defeat in the Old Firm derby on Sunday.

Graeme Murty’s men went into their clash with leaders Celtic having won each of their preceding four league matches, a run which took them to within six points of the Bhoys ahead of Sunday’s crunch encounter. Yet the Gers were unable to get the win they desperately needed despite twice taking the lead in the first half through Josh Windass and Daniel Candeias, with responses from Tom Rogic and Moussa Dembele bringing Brendan Rodgers’ side level at half time, from which they then went on to win the game as a Odsonne Edouard strike midway through the second period was enough to clinch all three points.

Consequently, there have been many despondent Light Blues fans in the Tavern in the last few days, several of whom are hoping their team can get back to winning ways when they host Kilmarnock at Ibrox on Saturday.

In the meantime though, there has been some good news for our resident Rangers supporters, as the club’s official website have confirmed that Candeias has penned a new deal with the Scottish giants.

The 30-year-old only made the move to Ibrox last summer but has since proven his worth to the club with six goals and 11 assists in all competitions, four goals and seven assists of which coming in their run to second place in the Scottish Premiership table.

And the former Portugal youth international has officially signed a new contract with the club which will keep him there until 2020, in news which has stimulated an overjoyed response from Rangers supporters on Twitter…
