Report: German giants have made ‘several’ approaches for Celtic’s £5.4m-rated lynchpin

Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern will be hoping their side can keep a hold of some of their best players this summer despite interest from some of Europe’s top sides.

The Bhoys will be keen to remain as strong as possible this summer as they look to retain their dominance in Scottish football, especially since Steven Gerrard took over at their Old Firm rivals Rangers.

Brendan Rodgers could, however, face a tough battle on their hands this summer when it comes to one of their star men and the manager will be keen to keep him. According to a report by Foot Mercato, Borussia Dortmund are interested in bringing Moussa Dembele to Germany and are believed to have made several approaches for the player in recent days.

The young centre-forward (valued at £5.4 million by Transfermarkt) has attracted interest from a number of Europe’s top clubs over the last couple of transfer windows and has been touted with a possible move away from Parkhead in the near future.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Celtic fans in the Tavern will be wanting the Hoops to do all they can to keep Dembele at the team and will be expecting the club to reject any offers made for him.

Having already signed Odsonne Edouard on a permanent deal recently, the Bhoys will want to keep the Frenchman to create a lethal partnership upfront, with the option of Leigh Griffiths also available to Rodgers.
