Report: Gerrard suffers setback just before his first competitive Rangers fixture

Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be disappointed to learn of some concerning news just a week before Steven Gerrard takes control of his first competitive fixture.

The Light Blues will face Macedonian outfit FK Shkupi in their Europa League qualifier at Ibrox next Thursday and the locals will be expecting to see their side do much better than last year’s horror show against Progres Niederkorn.

The Luxembourg minnows shocked those in Scotland when they eliminated Pedro Caixinha’s side and Gerrard will now want a repeat of those displays.

However, the Daily Record have released a report that could throw the spanner into the works for the Liverpool legend. It is being claimed that midfielder Jordan Rossiter is a major doubt for the Europa League tie after picking up an ankle injury during training.

The 21-year-old has had a troubled time since being at Ibrox with injury, having made just six appearances since joining from the Anfield outfit two years ago.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Rangers fans in the Tavern will be disappointed to see Rossiter injured once again and will be hoping that it is not as serious as first feared.

As mentioned, the midfielder has had a disastrous time with injuries since being at Ibrox, however, the locals will be hoping he can recover and Gerrard can get the best out of him as he has regarded him highly since their days at Liverpool.
