Report: Gerrard wants international midfielder to join him at Ibrox

Rangers are keen to continue their recruitment drive this summer as Steven Gerrard plans to turn the Ibrox side into a dominant force and fans in the Transfer Tavern will believe the latest name to be linked could help with that.

The new Light Blues manager has been extremely active since his was appointed and has already brought in seven players, with an eighth looking likely in the coming days, however, it appears the former Liverpool man is not content just yet.

The Scottish Sun are claiming that Rangers are looking at the possibility of bringing another talented player on loan this summer, with Angers’ Lassana Coulibaly on their radar. The 22-year-old has proven to be a star for the Ligue One side and would certainly offer the Gers a creative threat moving forward.

There may be some concern over the Mali international’s right to play in Scotland, however, with the player requiring a work permit.

Landlord’s Verdict

Coulibaly is a talented playmaker who has shown a lot of promise for Angers in France’s top-flight league, scoring once and providing two assists in 20 appearances for the outfit. The youngster would offer the Light Blues a creative threat and the locals in the Tavern will be hoping he can adapt to the Scottish Premiership, should he make the move.
