Report: Gerrard’s next Rangers signing could come at a hefty price

Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be getting used to seeing a new name arriving at Ibrox almost every week with what Steven Gerrard has already managed.

The new Light Blues manager has been busy in the transfer market this summer, making seven signings to ensure his side is strong enough to compete against Old Firm Rivals Celtic for domestic honours.

Gerrard is believed to be about to secure his eighth addition in the coming days with the loan signing of Umar Sadiq, however, it is being reported that it could come with a hefty cost.

According to a report in the Scottish Sun, AS Roma are thought to have demanded a six-figure fee to have the privilege of bringing the Nigerian to Ibrox on a season-long loan deal.

Although details about how much the Light Blues will need to pay the Serie A giants have not been revealed, it could suggest that the financial spending is all but finished for Rangers this summer, unless Gerrard can raise extra funds via player departures.

Landlord’s Verdict

The 21-year-old has been earning rave reviews across Italy for his performances with the Roma youth side and Gerrard will be hoping he can continue those displays for his new-look side. The locals will hope that Sadiq proves to be value for money, otherwise he could be considered as an expensive flop.
