Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be pleased with how their summer has gone in terms of recruitment, however, it appears Steven Gerrard is not quite finished just yet.
The former Liverpool star has been extremely active in the transfer market and has rebuilt his squad with a number of new additions as he looks to make the Light Blues as competitive as possible ahead of the upcoming Scottish Premiership campaign.
However, according to reports, it does not appear that Gerrard is finished with his recruitment drive, as the Newcastle Chronicle is claiming that he is interested in signing Newcastle United’s Alex Gilliead.
The winger, whose contract at St. James’ Park has expired, is thought to have not been offered the chance to remain in the north-east and that has alerted the Light Blues, who would be able to sign him on a free transfer.
The 22-year-old is believed to have a number of potential destinations to choose from, however, a move to join up with a club like Rangers could be too good for him to turn down.
The Rangers fans in the Tavern will be delighted that Gerrard is looking at the possibility of bringing Gilliead to Ibrox this summer.
The winger is extremely talented and excelled during his loan spells with Bradford City, Carlisle United and Luton Town, making over 100 appearances.
The youngster would be a smart signing for the Light Blues to make considering his ability and with him being available as a free transfer, the locals would feel he could be a rather risk-free addition.
