Rangers have been extremely active in this year’s transfer window following the arrival of Steven Gerrard as the new manager and it appears the club are not finished with their dealings just yet.
The new boss has overseen a huge overhaul of his squad this summer, making nine new signings so far in total, however, it appears he still has plans to bring at least one other body to Ibrox.
According to a report in the Scottish Sun, Gers are confident about their chances of bringing Millwall’s Jake Cooper to the Scottish Premiership, despite the Championship club insisting their star defender is not available.
The club are thought to have tabled a bid of £3million to try and bring him from the English capital and make him their tenth signing of the summer.
Gerrard is thought to be in need of another centre-back, following the departure of David Bates and Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso looking surplus to requirements at Ibrox, although he has already signed Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic.
The 23-year-old would be a solid addition to the Light Blues squad should they be able to convince Millwall to sell him to them.
Cooper, who has represented England at the Under-20 level, is highly thought of in the Championship and Gerrard obviously feels he can do a job in the top-flight of Scottish football.
Rangers feeling confident that a deal can be done could mean the club will be expecting to make their tenth signing of the summer, however, there is still a long way to go with Millwall’s reluctance to let him go.
