Rangers fans here in the Tavern are feeling confident ahead of the new campaign as Steven Gerrard continues to bring new players to Ibrox.
The Bluenoses will definitely want to forget about last season’s disasters as they failed to beat their Old Firm rivals and struggled to ensure consistency towards the end of the campaign. However, Steven Gerrard has brought a number of players in since then and appears to be closing in on another signing, as according to the Daily Star, Rangers are close to landing Angers holding midfielder Lassana Coulibaly.
Indeed, it’s understood that Rangers are closing in on the signing of Mali international Lassana Coulibaly.
The Ibrox side are nearing an agreement with Angers to sign the 22-year-old on a season-long loan. However, the move is subject to a work permit being approved.
Much to the delight of many of our local residents, Gerrard hopes to wrap up a move before Rangers’ Europa League qualifying opener against FC Shkupi at Ibrox on July 12.
Lassana Coulibaly could prove to be a valuable asset for the Bluenoses as they were often overrun in the middle of midfield last season. And, with the 22-year-old’s power and pace in midfield areas, the Glasgow side may finally be able to challenge the Hoops in the next campaign.
Indeed, not many supporters would have thought that Gerrard would be able to bring in such a large number of quality players this summer, but he has completely defied expectations as he looks to be closing in on an agreement for another potential signing.
