Report: Unhappy Rangers man wants Gerrard assurances

Steven Gerrard will have his work cut out for him at Rangers this summer, as he looks to make an immediate impact with the Ibrox outfit and fans in the Transfer Tavern will be expecting big things from him.

The Liverpool legend does not take over officially until Friday, however, he has already been working behind the scenes in terms of recruitment. He has already made a number of signings, whilst he is also prepared to let a number of men leave as he looks to raise capital.

Bruno Alves is one of those that is thought to depart Ibrox this summer, having come close to leaving in January, however, a report in the Scottish Sun is claiming that the Portugal international is to seek assurances from Gerrard when he arrives at the club for work.

The defender has been unhappy with how he was used last season and is thought to want more of a regular first-team role and is prepared to speak with his new manager and find out what his future entails.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Rangers fans in the Tavern would not be too disappointed if Alves was told he did not have a future at the club after failing to make a real impression with the locals.

The defender is one of the club’s highest-earners and could be offloaded, with interest from his homeland rumoured, however, it remains to be seen what Gerrard has in store for the veteran.
