Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern have finally stopped celebrating their title victory as the Scottish Cup final against Motherwell is just around the corner.
After they welcome Aberdeen to Celtic Park for their final league game, Brendan Rodgers will turn his attention towards Motherwell, looking to secure the Scottish Cup for the second time in a row. The Hoops have been dominant domestically but once again failed to impress in Europe; being knocked out at the group stage of the Champions League.
They were also knocked out after entering the Europa League, losing on aggregate to Zenit St Petersburg. If Celtic are to challenge on the European stage, summer reinforcements are needed. And with Rangers appointing Steven Gerrard, they must strengthen to stay at the top of the tree in Scotland.
One man they should target is Liverpool forward – Divock Origi. Valued at £9m by Transfermarkt, the Belgian international has spent this season out on loan at Wolfsburg where he has netted five Bundesliga goals. His future at Anfield remains uncertain after struggling in Germany while Roberto Firmino has set the Premier League alight.
Origi joined Liverpool from Lille in 2015 after impressing at the 2014 World Cup. Last season, he netted seven Premier League goals, highlighting his evident quality. Still only 23, Origi has a lot of potential, and the Scottish Premiership could be the ideal place to kickstart his career again.
Quick, strong and good on the ball, Origi has worked with Rodgers before, and a reunion could prove to be an astute move by the Hoops.
Celtic fans, thoughts?
