Rodgers must force stalwart out of Celtic now Sviatchenko has finally departed

The Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting more players to follow Erik Sviatchenko out of the exit door this month. Brendan Rodgers is continuing to chop and change his squad as he looks to improve his options in all departments.

Sviatchenko recently departed, as expected, but only on a loan deal back to Denmark to join his former club FC Midtjylland. There could be more players now axed by Brendan Rodgers and Cristian Gamboa should consider a move away.

The right-back is clearly out of favour at Parkhead, having only featured twice in all competitions this season. Gamboa is a forgotten man and he needs to get his career back on track by leaving Celtic this month.

The 28-year-old is set to play for Costa Rica in the World Cup this summer and they will need him to be playing regular football so he is sharp and ready for the challenge. The 62-cap Costa Rica international is an integral part of the national team but being a fringe player at Celtic is holding back his progress.

Celtic would surely have no qualms about letting him go for the right price but he might even need a loan move if no one is willing to match his transfer value. The former West Brom man spent many years in Scandinavia prior to his move to England and he could go back there or look to move to a team in mainland Europe.

With teams frantically piecing together their squad halfway through the season, there will be a club out there who would take Gamboa and he needs to seize this opportunity to leave Celtic.
