Domestically, Rangers haven’t been as good as some have said and although they sit third in the table, as it stands they won’t be able to compete in the long run with Celtic for the title.
In Europe, Rangers have been impressive and top their group, namely holding Villareal to a draw. Indeed, Rangers have not lost since they began their European campaign and it could well be that their European exploits could be a saving grace this season.
Over the summer, Rangers brought in a host of new players to try and improve the squad, and although the likes of Ryan Kent and Coulibaly have been a welcome addition to the side, there have been some players who haven’t added much at all, namely Umar Sadiq.
The 21-year-old forward was brought in on loan from Roma for the season but as of yet, he’s only played five games this season. With that in mind, the club is now considering ending his loan spell with the club.
Gerrard needed to improve the side’s attack last season and in Sadiq, he had hoped that the young Nigerian could provide some added firepower for the side. He has, however, been a complete flop since he arrived at the club and in January, Rangers must cancel his loan and bring in someone better.
In Kyle Lafferty and Alfredo Morelos, Gerrard has two forwards that have shown solid form but aside from them, there’s no one else who can step in and do an adequate job.
