Scott Arfield ruled out of Rangers trip to FK Shkupi

Scott Arfield ruled out of Rangers trip to FK Shkupi

Rangers will be feeling fairly confident about their match with FK Shkupi this evening (Tuesday) as they look to progress to the next round of the Europa League.

The Light Blues currently hold a two-goal advantage over the Macedonian outfit and Steven Gerrard will be expecting his side to get the job done.

However, according to a report in the Daily Record, he will be without one of his more experienced heads for the trip, with Scott Arfield suffering a blow.

The former Burnley man, who was a number of the transfer recruits that Gerrard convinced to join him at Ibrox this summer, had to be replaced during the first leg victory and it appears he has not recovered in time.

The 29-year-old is expected to be an integral member of the Light Blues for the upcoming season, however, he has stayed at home for the trip as they prepare for the long year ahead.

The Verdict:

Not being able to call upon Arfield will be a blow for Rangers and Gerrard, however, the 2-0 victory in the first leg will have helped ease the issue for the Scottish outfit.

The absence of the midfielder could give someone like Greg Docherty or Ryan Jack the chance to impress their new boss as they look to try and give him a selection headache in the future.
