Rangers have certainly improved under Steven Gerrard this season. The manager made a number of solid acquisitions over the two transfer windows and will likely look to do more business in the summer.
However, it is only normal when one of your best players performs well throughout the campaign that they attract interest, and it appears the Light Blues might have some difficulty in trying to keep that individual at Ibrox if one club does come calling.
What’s the News?
According to a report by The Mirror, Scott Arfield would be keen on a move to Southampton this summer.
Arfield is understood to know the director of football operations, Ross Wilson, well from their time together at Falkirk and a £3million move could be on the cards.
The Saints are believed to be interested in the Canada international and are thought to have been impressed with his performances for Rangers since last year’s move from Burnley.
Arfield may have joined Rangers on a free transfer last summer, however, he has proved to be a piece of smart business for the Light Blues.
The Canadian has put in a number of solid performances for Gerrard’s side this season as they looked to challenge for silverware.
With Arfield and Wilson’s previous relationship, it could be rather difficult for the Scottish Premiership side to try and compete with and they could be facing a tough battle.
However, receiving £3m for a player who is now in his thirties could be something that the Light Blues should seriously think about cashing in on as it would allow them to have the finances available to bring in some younger talent to the squad and help improve their midfield department.
He may have been a massive influence on the team this season, but maybe Rangers could find someone with a little more quality than Arfield on the pitch.
Rangers fans, what do you think the club should do in regards to Arfield? Should they cash in on him or look to resist any offers? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
