Rangers are thought to be closing in on their first January signing as Steven Gerrard continues to reshape his squad when given the opportunity.
The Liverpool legend was extremely active in the summer when he arrived at Ibrox, and although it is not expected that he will be as active now, he still wants to bring new faces to the Glasgow outfit.
And according to a report in Scotland, it appears that he is closing in on bringing a former Light Blue back to the club.
The 34-year-old left Southampton on a free transfer and is expected to take a huge wage cut to reunite with the Scottish Premiership side he left in 2012.
It is understood that a medical is imminent and could be completed within the next 24 hours.
Davis has been linked with a move back to Rangers for a long time and it appears that it could become a reality in the coming days.
The 34-year-old is hugely experienced, having played for Northern Ireland 107 times and knows what it means to win silverware with the Gers.
He would become Gerrard’s first January signing, although the Light Blues boss could have a few other targets on his radar still.
