Rangers appear to still be in the market for another player, despite landing a number of new faces already this summer.
The Light Blues signed Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic earlier in the summer who have both performed well, however, the new Ibrox chief feels that added cover could help to further improve his squad.
“I am still looking, but I have been very, very lucky in the centre-back area getting [Connor] over the line to come and play for us, and Nikola as well have been two rocks for me,” he told the club’s official website.
“They have been so consistent from start to finish, and they have certainly helped me in terms of looking for a centre-half as they have been so durable.
“But I would like to get another body in that position. That will give me the luxury to change formation maybe or pull one of those two out in terms of giving them a breather.”
Rangers have been extremely successful with their recruitment drive this summer, especially with their additions in defence.
The Light Blues are yet to taste defeat, with both Katic and Goldson looking solid at the back, however, another centre-back could help to further improve the squad.
There is still a week or so left until the transfer deadline, and with things in football happening quickly, Gerrard could have another addition at Ibrox in the near future.
