Steven Gerrard witnessed his Rangers side progress to the semi-final of the Scottish Cup on Wednesday night.
The Light Blues recorded a comfortable 4-0 victory against an Ayr United side that could have caused them a problem.
However, the Ibrox outfit did not come away from the game without any damage, as key man Alfredo Morelos was shown a yellow card, which will rule him out of the last-four match against Aberdeen.
The AS Roma loanee will be the only recognised striker available for the Light Blues, with Morelos suspended and Kyle Lafferty ineligible following his involvement with Heart of Midlothian earlier in the competition.
“It’s a frustration – we lose a player in form and we are going to have to find a way to get the job done without a natural nine unless Sadiq comes to the party and improves an awful lot between now and then,” he told the Scottish Sun.
Gerrard’s brutally honest assessment will not feel anyone at Rangers with a great deal of confidence, especially Sadiq himself.
The Nigerian attacker has not yet started a game for the Light Blues and has been working hard on his fitness and adapting his game with the reserves.
The match against Aberdeen could be an ideal time for the forward to prove himself and show what he is capable of, however, it remains to be seen if he will be handed the opportunity to do so.
