Steven Gerrard should make daring move for £3.1m-rated Liverpool man this summer

Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern are buzzing after Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard, was finally announced as the new manager of the club.

Gerrard arrives with a fantastic reputation after captaining Liverpool to multiple trophies during his playing career. However, the ex-England captain has never taken a senior management role before –  having managed Liverpool’s U18 side before taking the reins at Ibrox. Our punters in the Tavern are optimistic he will be a success in Scotland.

His arrival at the club has seen a number of his former colleagues linked with a move to the Scottish Premiership. Jurgen Klopp admitted he would help Gerrard in any way he could which could involve a number of Liverpool players making a move up north. One man who could be on the way out is Ragnar Klavan.

The Estonian defender, who is valued at £3.1m by Transfermarkt, has just one year remaining on his contract and has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Virgil Van Dijk. If Klopp adds another centre-back in the summer, Klavan could be set for an exit and Gerrard should take full advantage.

Despite being a backup option, the 32-year-old has performed well when asked to step into the first-team at Anfield. He has made 19 Premier League appearances so far this season as well as three starts in the Champions League. He has experience in both the Bundesliga and Premier League which could prove to be invaluable to Gerrard.

Potentially available at a great price, Klavan could an astute piece of business for the Gers.
