Rangers have fallen behind in the race for the SPFL crown, and having been knocked out of the Scottish League Cup, the Scottish top flight must now be their priority.
However, with so many quality to compete with in the league, it won’t be easy for Steven Gerrard.
Naturally, then, he needs every bonus that he can get, and he was given a significant boost over the summer when he was handed a significant transfer kitty to improve the squad.
Now, granted, some players that Gerrard brought in weren’t good enough, but he also brought in a ton of fantastic talent.
The Englishman recently bemoaned his squad’s poor finishing (BT Sport via BBC) and noted that he may have to bring in fresh talent to improve things. The Rangers brass will only want to invest in the squad, though, if they know Gerrard will bring in good players.
Fortunately, many of his summer signings have been fantastic this term, and these TWO are fantastic examples…
Scott Arfield came to Rangers from Burnley, and he’s quickly emerged as one of Steven Gerrard’s most trusted and most influential players.
A star in the midfield, he’s the sort of player that an entire game can run through. With a brilliant range of passing, a solid engine and an eagerness to perform, Arfield has begun his time at Rangers as he means to go on.
Few players have come to the SPFL and had such an immediate impact – but Arfield has been tremendous.
So, his arrival proves that Gerrard knows how to spot a good player when one is needed.
Rangers needed a defensive stalwart to help solidify their defence, and they found exactly that in Conor Goldson.
The former Brighton defender has enjoyed a solid start to life at Rangers, and whilst their offence may be struggling, defensively Steven Gerrard’s men have played well.
Goldson has been a regular member of the team and he has consistently performed well. Offering everything from solid aerial work, powerful tackling, brilliant tracking and leadership to boot, Goldson has been a real hit in Scotland.
He’s the sort of player that can help take Rangers to the next level.
