Celtic currently find themselves sitting at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, while Rangers are joint on points but have played a game more.
The Hoops will have their sights set firmly on securing yet another treble in the current campaign, with consistency being the key from here on in. Meanwhile, the Bluenoses have the opportunity to strengthen and mount a title challenge of their own, with the January transfer window holding the key to their silverware chances.
Indeed, Rangers and Celtic are fierce rivals and last week’s Old Firm encounter was a feisty one, so we took a look at Ryan Kent and James Forrest’s influence at their respective clubs.
With that in mind, let’s compare these two transfers…
Steven Gerrard secured a brilliant agreement back in the summer months by bringing Ryan Kent to Ibrox on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool.
The winger has been one of the standout performers for the Bluenoses in the current campaign, with three goals and three assists to his name at this moment in time. And, he was arguably the standout performer in last week’s Old Firm clash, as he provided the key assist for Ryan Jack’s goal.
TT GRADE: A
James Forrest has been influential right the way through his Celtic career but he is enjoying arguably his best season yet, having produced 11 goals and 17 assists in all competitions.
Indeed, the Scotland international star has developed into one of the most dangerous attackers in Scottish football, and has managed to carry his form with him onto the international stage.
He will play a huge part in the second half of the season for Celtic, with goals and assists ever-present.
TT GRADE: A
When comparing these two, it’s safe to say that James Forrest is currently leading the way having produced an astonishing amount of goals and assists, while Ryan Kent has put in a number of dazzling performances but hasn’t quite been able to produce valuable contributions.
Forrest will play a huge part from here on in until the end of the season and could easily go on to break his own personal assists and goals records.
Meanwhile, the Englishman has really come into his own at Rangers this season and has shown that he can handle the pressure of European football, so he will continue to be a valuable asset.
Indeed, Gerrard was celebrating securing a brilliant transfer agreement in the form of Kent back in the summer months, while Brendan Rodgers was reaping the rewards of Forrest’s excellent performances last season as he played a huge part in securing the treble.
Both players are at the top of their game in the Scottish Premiership, but it’s Forrest who has managed to provide an outrageous number of contributions in the final third, which is something that Kent has struggled to do regularly.
