Unwelcome transfer blow for Rangers fans emerges – Report

Rangers have endured a difficult SPL season so far, trailing in the wake of runaway leaders and fierce rivals Celtic for much of the campaign.

New boss Graeme Murty has it all to do this month if he is to begin to close the gap between the Glasgow clubs, and his activity in the transfer window could provide an indication as to the direction the club are going. Fans here in The Transfer Tavern are keen to see movement, with the visiting Scotsmen stressing to our landlord over a pint that another forward was a necessity this month. However fans were hit with a blow, when our landlord revealed that The Daily had reported that Hearts have entered the race to sign Norwich City striker, Steven Naismith.

The former Rangers man is surplus to requirements at Carrow Road, and has revealed that he was open to an Ibrox return this month. However Hearts manager Craig Levein has identified the experienced 31-year-old as the perfect addition to his squad, and it appears likely the two clubs could go head-to-head over the player’s signature this month.

Landlord’s Verdict: If Rangers step up their interest and launch a serious bid for the player, then there is only one winner in this race. Naismith enjoyed a wonderfully productive five-year spell with the club, and would surely jump at the opportunity to return to the club this month.

However with the club showing no signs of progression on the deal and Naismith keen to end his Carrow Road nightmare, the possibility of first-team football at Hearts will certainly appeal. Rangers must move fast to ensure the player is theirs by the end of the month.
