What does the future hold for Daniel Arzani at Celtic?

When Daniel Arzani joined Celtic this summer from Man City on loan for 2 years, after signing from Melbourne City, it was a transfer that brought a lot of promise.

The 19-year-old had just represented Australia at the World Cup in Russia; in doing so being the youngest player at the tournament and had looked impressive. However, things at Celtic Park have not started to well for the teenager.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers clearly did not see a place for the midfielder in his Celtic team and did not pick him for the opening months of the season. This caused the Australian national team’s manager Graham Arnold to organise a meeting with Rodgers to discuss the player’s future. This is because he continued to play very well for Australia when called upon but was still not getting the playing time for The Bhoys.

He was giving his first appearance of the season recently in a 5-0 thrashing against bottom of the table Dundee United, but this may not necessarily be a sign of things to come.

Therefore, from Man City’s perspective, they have no interest in keeping the man on loan at Celtic if he is not going to get any game time. The purpose of a loan is to give a player exposure to football at the highest level when sometimes the club themselves cannot provide that. But if Celtic aren’t giving that to the teenager, City should cut the loan short and send him elsewhere. Otherwise it is very hard for the teenager to impress and warrant a call back to The Etihad.

At 19 years old, Arzani clearly has a very bright future, nonetheless he will want to be playing as much as possible and would surely want to move away if his future is not cleared up by Rodgers.
