Celtic have been the standout performers in the Scottish Premiership in recent times, but they’re still experiencing some issues in Europe under Brendan Rodgers.
The Hoops will be desperate to secure a third successive treble in the current campaign, and they’ve certainly been helped by a number of players after a disappointing start to proceedings.
Celtic signed Tom Rogic back in January of 2013 on a four-and-a-half year deal from the Central Coast Mariners. The Australian international made his Celtic debut on the 9th of February 2013 in a league match against Inverness Caledonian Thistle and produced an assist, which contributed towards him winning the Man of the Match award.
However, things weren’t all perfect for the midfielder as he was sent out on loan to Australian side Melbourne Victory back in January of 2014, before returning to Scotland in the summer of 2015.
Since then the 25-year-old has never looked back as he continues to establish himself as one of the standout performers at the club, with an impressive 34 goals and 26 assists to his name since that point.
The attack-minded midfielder currently has four assists and four goals to his name in the current campaign, despite struggling to enjoy a regular starting place in the side towards the start of the season.
A number of Premier League clubs were linked with a move for the Celtic man prior to the summer transfer window but nothing came of the interest as he signed a new deal.
But, having been one of the top performers for Celtic in seasons gone by, it’s about time he looked to challenge himself by seeking a move outside of Scotland. The Scottish Premiership has brought the best out of him at times, but his development could really reach the next level if he comes up against more challenging opposition on a regular basis, opposed to storming to the title every year.
So, with Premier League teams possibly coming calling again in January and plenty of potential still waiting to be unlocked, the attacking midfielder shouldn’t hesitate to leave Celtic Park and go on in search of a real challenge.
