Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern will be hoping they can keep hold of a key man this summer as Premier League clubs begin to circle.
News has broken that Arsene Wenger is set to leave Arsenal at the end of the season and Brendan Rodgers has been enlisted as a favourite to take over the reigns at the Emirates Stadium, whilst Chelsea have also been credited with surprise interest in the past.
The Celtic boss has guided the Bhoys to an impressive feat during his time at Celtic Park, including his own unbeaten Scottish Premiership campaign that led to a domestic treble, and despite a couple of defeats so far, he looks to set replicate those successes once again.
However, according to Sky Sports, Dermot Desmond has revealed the club will not stand in his way if he is wanted by the Gunners and is hopeful that he will remain at the Glasgow outfit for some time to come.
“I’m glad he’s the favourite. He’s an outstanding person. We wouldn’t want him to leave but we won’t force him to stay. Hopefully, his love for the club and the setup here will induce him to stay at the club,” he told Sky Sports News.
When asked if he would accept an approach from Arsenal, he said “Absolutely. I don’t think you can put handcuffs on anybody if they want to go to a club as good as Arsenal. It will be Brendan’s decision and his decision only.”
The Celtic fans in the Tavern will be worried that they could lose their manager to a Premier League side as big as Arsenal and will be hoping the club do everything in their power to convince him to remain at Celtic Park.
