‘Would be a great signing’, ‘No thanks’ – Celtic fans left divided by recent transfer speculation

Celtic supporters have been in fine voice in the Transfer Tavern in recent times, as they continue to look back fondly on an excellent 2017 for their team, which saw them storm to all three Scottish domestic titles.

Brendan Rodgers’ men finished an astonishing 39 points clear of second place Aberdeen to cruise to the Scottish Premiership title, dropping just eight points over the course of the campaign to set a new points record. And the Bhoys also added another Scottish Cup trophy to their cabinet with victory over Aberdeen at Hampden Park back in May, before retaining their Scottish League Cup crown with a 2-0 success over Motherwell in November to further underline their dominance north of the border.

Thus, there have been many happy Celtic fans in the Tavern in the last few weeks, several of whom are daring to dream about what their club could achieve in 2018, both domestically and on the European stage.

In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Bhoys supporters to get their teeth into, not least recent reports detailing their bid for Besiktas’ Dusko Tosic, a bid which has reportedly been turned down by the Super Lig champions.

The 32-year-old defender has spent the last few seasons at the Turkish giants and helped them to back-to-back league titles, as well as to the last 16 of this campaign’s Champions League.

And with Celtic clearly in need of defensive reinforcements, Rodgers’ men have reportedly made a €3 million offer for the Serbia international, although they will reportedly need to up that if they are to get their man.

And news of both the offer and its subsequent rejection has stimulated quite a mixed response from Celtic supporters on Twitter…
