Premiership champions Celtic are reportedly keeping an eye on 20-year-old Airdrie winger Thomas Robert and have already been scouting him.
Celtic among host of clubs after Robert
The Scottish Sun recently exclusively reported that the Hoops are one of the clubs who are looking at the idea of signing Robert. The report claims that the Hoops’ head of recruitment Nick Hammond watched Robert play against East Fife in a Scottish League One game recently.
Would Robert be a useful signing for Celtic?
More recently, Celtic scout Tosh McKinlay scouted the 20-year-old in Airdrie’s home game against Montrose. Apart from the Hoops, the likes of Hearts, Hibernian, Rangers, Dundee United and multiple other English clubs are also looking at the winger.
The report also claims that Airdrie are ‘braced for bids’ for their player in the upcoming January transfer window.
Interest in Robert is ‘no great surprise’ for Airdrie
Airdrie director of football Stuart Millar has admitted that interest in the 20-year-old is ‘no great surprise’ for the club and he also confirmed that multiple clubs are looking to sign the youngster too.
Robert, son of former Newcastle star Laurent, had joined Airdrie after rejecting the chance to sign a new contract with Montpellier. In the current campaign, the French winger has contributed to four goals in seven Scottish League One appearances.
Robert is a right-winger by trade but can also play on the left. The Hoops have only James Forrest as their only out-and-out option for the right midfield spot. So it is understandable why the Bhoys would be looking to sign the 20-year-old.
