Celtic: Pundit believes that something is wrong with Karamoko Dembele - Celtic News

Pundit and former Celtic player Frank McAvennie believes that there is something going on behind the scenes, when it comes to the situation of the club’s starlet Karamoko Dembele.

The kind of player Celtic need

The Athletic’s Celtic correspondent Kieran Devlin had recently reported that there are concerns about Dembele’s physical development as a player and there are also concerns about his application at the Parkhead-based club.

The report had also stated that these concerns have hindered Dembele’s path into the club’s first-team and he was expected to be more involved in Neil Lennon’s side this season.

Should Celtic part ways with Karamoko Dembele?

McAvennie was recently talking to Football Insider about Dembele’s situation and he also believes that something is going on behind the scenes, when it comes to the 17-year-old.

“To be honest, I thought Dembele would have been in the team by now.

“He is the kind of player that Celtic need. We do not have any wingers while Forrest is out so why does Neil Lennon not give him a chance?

“There is obviously something going on behind the scenes. It is a strange one to talk about because there must be a reason why he is not in the team.

“It might be his attitude, that has happened before with young boys, or maybe he is annoyed that he is not getting a chance. If his attitude stinks that might be because he is not playing.

“I thought Lenny liked him. He has brought the young boy Frimpong on so I cannot understand why Dembele would not be in the squad at least, unless it is his attitude.”

A blow for Neil Lennon

Following a pre-season game earlier this year, Neil Lennon had said that he wants Dembele to be around the club’s first-team in the current campaign. He had also said that the more he stays around with the first-team, the better he’ll get (as per the Scottish Sun).

This shows that Lennon trusted the 17-year-old as a footballer when the season was about to start off. Dembele has already made four first-team appearances for the Bhoys and it suggests that the club has trusted him over the last few months.

Because of that, Dembele’s lack of development would be a blow for the Bhoys and if there are concerns about his attitude, it might be a disappointing thing for the club.
