Following a stunning domestic start, the Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern are finally back in spirits this season.
Amazingly, the Hoops propping up the bar lamented life under former manager Ronny Deila despite their two league titles under his stead, with Brendan Rodgers’ arrival seemingly heralding a new dawn at Parkhead.
Such is the nature of the strength in depth available to the former Liverpool coach in Glasgow, last season’s poster boy Leigh Griffiths cannot seem to get a start.
The former Hibs man notched 40 goals last season, though the form of summer signing Moussa Dembele has kept the Scotland international out of the starting lineup.
Still, the 26-year-old has revealed he no qualms about losing his regular starting berth at Celtic Park and understands the Frenchman’s form has all but guaranteed him a role so far.
Having scored against Inverness over the course of the weekend, Griffiths was in a reflective and humble mood.
‘If the shoe was on the other foot – and I was scoring goals like I did last season and got dropped – then I’d be asking questions.
‘So I have no qualms about not playing. It’s been frustrating but it’s a team game and I need to wait my turn.
”I’ve come in for this game and scored a goal without being at my best.”
