on, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will be keen to keep his squad intact this month.

And one player in his ranks that he looks desperate to hold onto is defender Anthony Ralston.

The Breakdown

According to the Daily Star (via the Sun), Celtic have already rejected a loan offer from St Mirren, showing the sort of faith Rodgers has in the 20-year-old.

Since arriving at Celtic Park back in 2016, Rodgers has often shown he has had no problem with working and developing young players, something he looks set to continue doing with Ralston.

On the other side of defence, Rodgers has helped Kieran Tierney to become a better full-back, though the potential the Scotland international possesses means he was already heading down the right path. With that in mind, there is no reason why Ralston cannot develop in a similar manner as a right-back under the former Liverpool boss.

And from Rodgers' perspective, with not the largest of transfer budgets to work with, it is important for him to continue utilising Celtic's youth system and the players its producing.

All in all, the decision to reject St Mirren's approach for Ralston looks to be one that should benefit both the player and his manager.
