Borna Barisic grabbed another assist as Rangers won 2-0 at Motherwell on Sunday afternoon, and the Gers’ full-backs seem to be following in the footsteps of European champions Liverpool.

Last week, many Liverpool fans felt it was no coincidence that both Steven Gerrard and Jurgen Klopp had signed new contracts which run until 2024, with some Reds supporters feeling that it is written in the stars for their former hero to succeed the charismatic German.

Now, it appears as though Gerrard, who is of course still learning his craft having spent time coaching Liverpool’s under-18 side before moving to Glasgow, is following in the footsteps of a very well-known Klopp tactic.

Indeed, Barisic’s assist to Nikola Katic on Sunday takes his total for the season to 11, while James Tavernier has 12, and Gerrard has spoken in the past about learning from Klopp.

Down on Merseyside, Andrew Robertson has five assists in all competitions after racking up 13 last campaign, while Trent Alexander-Arnold leads Liverpool with seven assists this season after he grabbed 16 last year.

Liverpool’s creativity comes almost entirely from their flanks rather than the midfield, per Sky Sports, and it seems as though Gerrard is adopting a similar approach at Ibrox.

Whether or not Liverpool fans’ hunch about 2024 comes true or not is yet to be seen, but Rangers supporters can certainly feel confident knowing that Gerrard may well be shaping his current side on what is currently the best team in Europe.

Rangers fans, do you think Gerrard is adopting Klopp’s philosophy? Will he succeed the German at Anfield in 2024? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
