Rangers will be desperate to return to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership as they've failed to secure three points in their last two league matches.

The Bluenoses currently find themselves behind Celtic in the race for the title, so the Bluenoses will need to think about strengthening in January transfer window to stand any chance of mounting a challenge.

Interestingly, the Glasgow club received a setback in their pursuit of Kilmarnock winger Jordan Jones recently, as Burnley are planning a £1 million bid in January when the Northern Ireland international will be into the final six months of his deal at Rugby Park. Rangers are still believed to be keen on signing the 24-year-old, but they may have to spend a seven-figure fee to pip Sean Dyche's side, according to The Sunday People (09/12; page 52) (via HITC).

THE BREAKDOWN

Jordan Jones has established himself as one of the hottest topics in Scottish football, and is making great strides on the international stage with Northern Ireland. Indeed, this has attracted the attention of Steven Gerrard and Rangers, who will be looking to bring in attacking reinforcements in January.

However, it's unlikely that Gerrard will want to spend a seven-figure fee on Jones in the January transfer, with Burnley looking to assert their dominance in the race.

But, this is a blessing in disguise for the Glasgow club as Jordan Jones is yet to score a goal in the current campaign, despite providing four assists. And, with Alfredo Morelos struggling for support at times at the pinnacle of the attack, the last thing Gerrard should do is spend a lot of money on someone that can't guarantee any goals.

Therefore, the Bluenoses should let Burnley secure the services of the 24-year-old as there're plenty of other options out there for Rangers to explore in the January transfer window.

Rangers fans, should they go all out to sign Jones?
