# Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs monitoring Max Aarons, Timothy Castagne and Zeki Celik this summer

**With Tottenham Hotspur defender Serge Aurier possibly leaving north London this summer, Jose Mourinho will need to recruit at least one new right-back in the transfer window.**

Aurier has reportedly already agreed a move to [AC Milan](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/serge-aurier-tottenham-hotspur-ac-milan-transfer-latest/) who have held intense talks with Tottenham to try to sort out a deal for the [60-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/serge-aurier/profil/spieler/127032) Ivory Coast international.

He performed well in the Premier League [overall](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/83683/Show/Serge-Aurier) last term but is often prone to making big [mistakes](https://theathletic.co.uk/1337390/2019/10/31/serge-aurier-a-defender-who-needs-to-stop-saying-sorry-and-instead-think-more-carefully-about-his-actions/). His lapses in [concentration](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/83683/Show/Serge-Aurier) and [poor crossing](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/83683/Show/Serge-Aurier) ability have hardly done him any favours at all.

The ex-Paris Saint-Germain ace is arguably one of the [Premier League’s](https://talksport.com/football/700135/serge-aurier-replacements-bargain-transfers-tottenham-thomas-meunier/) better-performing right-backs on his day, but those games are few and far between.

Aurier is currently the only recognised right-back after [Kyle Walker-Peters](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/kyle-walker-peters-tottenham-hotspur-southampton-transfer-latest/) was sold to Southampton, which has put the Portuguese in quite a predicament.

If the Ivorian leaves, the Lilywhites will need to sign a suitable replacement. However, Mourinho will have a only short amount of time to find a solution to the problem before the Premier League starts again in several weeks.

According to [The Athletic](https://theathletic.co.uk/1988558/2020/08/12/tottenham-questions-foyth-ndombele-aarons-sessegnon/), as per [@HotspurRelated](https://twitter.com/HotspurRelated/status/1293619027043143680), Spurs have identified Max Aarons, Timothy Castagne and Zeki Celik as potential targets in the summer.

It’s no secret Tottenham have been monitoring the [Norwich City](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-transfer-boost-max-aarons-bayern/) defender for some time as [his reputation](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-transfer-boost-max-aarons-bayern/) survived unscathed after the Canaries were relegated from the top flight.

Norwich are demanding [£30m](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-transfer-blow-bayern-aarons-norwich/) for their academy graduate, amid rumoured interest from Bayern Munich.

While that seems a little steep, he is a promising prospect who has put in a string of [consistent performances](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-transfer-boost-max-aarons-bayern/) and wants to stay in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-transfer-boost-max-aarons-bayern/).

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has made it clear he wants to sell the 27-year-old for somewhere in the region of the [£23m](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-hotspur-serge-aurier-set-to-leave-spurs-for-serie-a-side-ac-milan-as-mourinho-rings-changes/) he paid Paris Saint-Germain three years ago,

Admittedly, Aurier earned a higher [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison) rating than Aarons last term, but the 20-year-old averaged [more blocks per game](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/362103/Show/Max-Aarons) and drew more fouls. Simply put, Aarons could turn out to be a valuable asset if Levy is willing to stump up the cash for the defender in the summer, as he still has plenty of time to continue his development as a player.

The [five-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/max-aarons/profil/spieler/471690) England U21 international possess the [natural ability](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/tottenham-hojbjerg-next-transfer-signing-18734046) to take the next step in his career and could be an absolute bargain if Spurs can convince the Canaries to sell him for less than the quoted price.

***Tottenham fans, should Levy sign Aarons this summer? Let us know in the comments below!***
