Conte rocked as Euro giants slap mammoth £47m price tag on formidable lieutenant

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern who knew very little about the incoming Antonio Conte prior to Euro 2016 have been dreaming with wide eyed wonderment ever since Italy’s tactical masterclass against Belgium. 

So, most of the Blues propping up the bar this evening are ready to put all their faith the in the hard-nosed 46-year old as they look to improve on one of their worst seasons in memory.

However, the current Azzurri chief won’t have things his way right away.

According to Gazzetta Dello SportJuventus have slapped a whopping £47m price tag on star defender Leonardo Bonucci, who was reportedly a target for the incoming Blues boss.

The 28-year old defender earned plaudits for the stunning long pass to set up the nation’s first goal in the group stage, as well as a formidable defensive display against Romelu Lukaku.

Due to his standing as one of the elite central defenders in the continental game, the Old Lady are understood to value him at such a big price in an attempt to ward off potential interest.
